16. Hyetograph

Note: Due to the precipitation in the early hours of 28th being in the form of snow, followed by temperatures mostly below 0°C, the automatic rain gauge remained frozen with this snow until a thaw set in on 31st. The resultant snow melt is thus shown as rainfall on 31st in advance of the actual rainfall later that day. The hyetogram consequently shows a timing error in this respect, although the total amount of rainfall and rainfall equivalent of snow is unaffected. (The standard MK 1A rain gauge, which is not dependent on sensitive electronics, is always thawed out at the 0900 GMT observation hour in circumstances such as this).
